The New York Times today has an article on House Republican efforts to loosen the restrictions on the political activities of churches. Coming on the heels of the brouhaha over the efforts of some Catholics to deny communion to pro-choice politicians like Sen. Kerry (blogged here, here, and here), Democrats are crying foul and characterize the effort as a ham-fisted attempt to aid the re-election of President Bush.
