Gonzaga Law School, part of a Catholic, Jesuit University, has refused to recognize a Christian student organization (the Gonzaga Pro-Life Law Caucus) on the ground that it violates the school’s anti-discrimination policy because it restricts its leadership to Christians. According to the Students for Academic Freedom web site,

this leaves the Pro-Life Law Caucus without the official sanction enjoyed by numerous law student groups, including the Sexual Orientation Diversity Alliance, the Armed Forces Law Club, the Women’s Law Caucus, and the Tax Club.

A similar tempest (without the tax angle) is brewing at Ohio State, where the Center for Law & Religious Freedom has filed a federal lawsuit challenging the law school’s threatened revocation of the Christian Legal Society’s status as an approved student organization.
