Following up on this morning’s post about the need for taxpayers who received automatic 4-month extensions on April 15 to file their tax returns today or obtain an additional 2-month extension (until October 15) from the IRS by filing Form 2688: the IRS announced today that taxpayers who live in the 25 Florida counties struck by Tropical Storm Bonnie and Hurricane Charley will automatically receive a 2-month extension. The IRS will abate interest and any late filing or late payment penalties that otherwise would apply.
