IRS To Award Supplemental Grants for Tax Clinics in Underserved Areas

Irs_logo_64As noted here, the IRS last week announced the award of $7.5 million in matching grants to Low Income Taxpayer Clinics (LITCs) (including 28 at law schools) for the 2005 grant cycle (1/1/05 – 12/31/05).  Yesterday, the IRS announced (IR-2005-28) that it had received additional funding to open a supplemental period for accepting LITC applications for the remainder of the 2005 grant cycle for communities that are underrepresented by existing tax clinics:

  • Alabama — Montgomery & south of Birmingham
  • Alaska — Statewide excluding Anchorage area
  • Arizona — Statewide
  • Colorado — Statewide
  • District of Columbia — Districtwide
  • Idaho — Southern sections
  • Iowa — Statewide excluding Des Moines area
  • Maryland — Statewide
  • Mississippi — Western & southern sections
  • Missouri — Eastern & central sections including St. Louis
  • Montana — Eastern sections
  • Nebraska — Statewide excluding Omaha area
  • New Mexico — Statewide
  • North Dakota — Northern sections
  • Puerto Rico — San Juan & eastern sections
  • Texas — Western sections & Dallas
  • Utah — Statewide
  • Wisconsin — Statewide
  • Wyoming — Statewide
