ATPI Requests Proposals for Tax Research Grants

The American Tax Policy Institute (ATPI) seeks requests for tax research grants:

The ATPI is seeking proposals for significant projects on specific topics. As you know, in previous years the organization made grants for research papers. ATPI now hopes to make a bigger impact on the tax policy discussion by funding large, multidisciplinary projects. The organization is seeking, for example, proposals to mount multi-day conferences where newly prepared papers are presented to experts from the economics, accounting and legal fields. ATPI offers grant seekers funds to pay travel, administrative and other expenses for such projects.

ATPI is currently seeking requests for projects on (1) the current and future special treatment of savings for retirement, health and education in federal tax law, and (2) current problems in state taxation. For a more detailed description, please contact me at the address below.

A person seeking a grant must provide a detailed description of the proposed project, which should include the anticipated format, potential participants, possible timing, proposed location, a detailed budget, and a list of other potential sources of funds. Requestors can expect the ATPI Projects Committee to suggest revisions to enhance the likelihood of receiving an award. Requestors should also anticipate that ATPI trustees will provide assistance in planning and executing the project.

To be considered at ATPI’s July meeting, applications should be submitted by May 15.  For further information, contact Clarissa Potter (Georgetown) here.
