The Northwestern Graduate Tax Program is sponsoring the first-ever summer abroad program devoted exclusively to the study of tax law:
Northwestern University School of Law and Queen Mary, University of London, have partnered to offer a summer program on Taxation in an International Context. Tax faculty from both schools will teach courses that provide a solid foundation in U.S. and E.U. tax laws and their application in transactional business practice.
Northwestern Law’s tax program and faculty are recognized as leaders in the tax field, ranking fourth among all U.S. law schools in U.S. News & World Report in 2005. The School of Tax Law at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary features an outstanding team of tax teachers representing the Bar, city law and accounting firms, investments banks, and academia.
The courses, which will be taught from June 19 to July 25 at Queen Mary’s Charterhouse Square campus in Central London, are open to law students currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school, as well as degree candidate graduate students, lawyers, and other professionals from schools outside the United States. The program will enroll approximately 30 individuals (approximately 20 current U.S. JD students and 10 participants from graduate schools and professional institutions within the United Kingdom and Europe.)
Course credits earned by JD students from the United States through participation in the program are transferable to their home institutions. Taxation in an International Context is the only foreign summer program approved by the ABA that is devoted solely to the study of tax and that focuses exclusively on the tax implications of international business transactions.
