Three Tax Court Judges are named on Lawdragon Magazine’s ranking of the Top 500 Judges in America:
- Joel Gerber: The new chief justice has done much to repair the court’s battered reputation since the Ballard decision.
- James S. Halpern: Although impatient to move cases along, he’s considered the tax court’s leading intellect.
- Peter J. Panuthos: The special trial judge is considered better than most of his presidentially appointed colleagues.
Here is part of the description of Lawdragon’s methodology:
In compiling this guide, our staff of reporters contacted thousands of people throughout the United States: litigators, in-house counsel, prosecutors, law school professors, pro bono practitioners, bar association heads and users and providers of alternative dispute resolution services. Our guide to the 500 best public and private judges in the United States includes federal and state court judges at every level, and specialized courts including federal immigration, tax, bankruptcy and international trade.
