Faculty Salaries Rise 3.9% in 2006-07; Law Professors Again Have Highest Salaries

The College & University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) has released its 2006-07 National Faculty Salary Survey:

Results indicate that the overall median salary increase for faculty members in colleges and universities was 3.8%. This finding reflects the salaries of more than 205,200 faculty members in public and private colleges and universities nationwide. Salaries were reported by 824 institutions, including 493 private institutions and 331 public institutions. The salary increase was greater at public institutions (3.9%) than at private institutions (3.7%).

From today’s Chronicle of Higher Education:

The CUPA-HR survey, unlike the salary survey conducted by the American Association of University Professors, does not report salaries by institution. Instead, it categorizes the numbers by discipline and rank. For the ninth year in a row, law professors continue to earn the most, on average. Full professors of law earn an average salary of $121,301.
