The IRS on Friday announced (IR-2007-207) the selection of ten new members of the IRS Advisory Council, which provides a forum for IRS officials and the public to discuss tax administration issues (See the 2006 Public Report and Briefing Book.) For biographies of the current members, see here. There are five CPAs and three lawyers among the ten new members:
- David L. Bernard, CPA (Neenah, WI). He is vice president of tax and real estate for Kimberly-Clark and was international president of Tax Executives Institute.
- Jay E. Fishman (Bryn Mawr, PA). He is managing director of Financial Research Associates and fellow of the American Society of Appraisers.
- Dean Heyl, J.D. (Washington, D.C.) He is president of Heyl Consulting and is attorney/manager of government relations with Direct Selling Association.
- Marshall Hunt, CPA (Bloomfield Hills, MI). He is director of the Tax Assistance Program for Accounting Aid Society and an adjunct lecturer at University of Michigan-Dearborn.
- Marc J. Korab, J.D., LL.M. (New Brunswick, NJ). He is senior vice president of corporate tax for Citigroup.
- David A. Lifson, CPA (New York City). He is co-managing partner with Hays & Co. and president of the New York State Society of CPAs.
- Carol Markman, CPA, (Westbury, NY). She is a partner with Feldman, Meinberg & Co. and was president of the National Conference of CPA Practitioners.
- Charles P. Rettig, J.D., LL.M. (Encino, CA). He is an attorney with Hochman, Salkin, Rettig, Toscher & Perez, and is on the Board of Trustees for the California CPA Education Foundation.
- Bonnie Speedy (Pasadena, MD). She is the National Director of AARP Tax Aide, AARP Foundation.
- Carolyn R. Turnbull, CPA (Roswell, GA). She is senior tax manager with Grant Thornton and member of the Tax Advisor Editorial Board of the American Institute of CPAs.
