Western State University College of Law in Orange County, California, facing ferocious competition from Chapman, Whittier, and the new UC-Irvine law schools, has been sold for $5-$10 million to Knowledge Investment Partners LP, an education company based in Geneva, Switzerland. Western State has faced accreditation problems with the ABA over its low bar passage rate. Western State sued the ABA over its denial of full accreditation; the lawsuit was settled and the ABA granted the school provisional accreditation in 2005.
