Call for Tax Papers: VAT and Direct Taxes

The Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law and the Institute for VAT Research at Stockholm University have issued a call for tax papers in connection with a March 26-28, 2009 conference on VAT and Direct Taxes – Similarities and Differences:

Tax experts are invited to let us know whether they are willing to prepare a paper on one of the topics mentioned [here].  Please let us know until September 30, 2008 and send your email [here].  Please indicate if and to which extent you would need a financial subsidy for travel and accommodation to be able to participate in the conference (in case your home institution does not reimburse your expenses). …

Papers would have to be delivered not later than January 15, 2009. They will thereafter be distributed by the conference committee to all participants as soon as possible. Participants are asked to study all the papers before the conference. Authors will not present their papers at the conference. Instead, a discussant will highlight and critically comment selected main ideas of the papers, in order to stimulate a lively discussion. Of course, authors are invited to contribute to the discussions and to “defend” their ideas.
