The IRS announced on Friday the selection of retired Deloitte partner Lawrence M. Axelrod as Special Counsel to the Associate Chief Counsel (Corporate):

Axelrod is a graduate of the USC Law Center and holds a Masters of Law in Taxation from Georgetown Law School. From 1977 to 1981, he was an attorney-advisor in the Legislation and Regulations Division of the IRS Office of Chief Counsel. In 1981, he joined the Washington National Tax Office of Touche Ross and was admitted to the partnership in 1985. He remained partner until his retirement from Deloitte & Touche in 2008. Axelrod has written extensively on corporate tax and consolidated returns. …
