National Law Journal:  Ex-Top Aide to Detroit's Fallen Mayor Is Out of Jail, But Won't Return to Law School Any Time Soon:

The former top aide and mistress of Detroit's fallen mayor has completed her jail sentence for lying under oath, but she won't be going back to [Wayne State] law school anytime soon.

Under the conditions of her probation, Christine Beatty, who was at the center of Detroit's text message scandal that brought down ex-mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, cannot attend law school during the next five years that she is on probation. … Beatty, who pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice in December, was attending law school when the scandal first broke. Under her plea agreement, she cannot attend law school during the time of her probation and must pay the city $100,000 in restitution.
