Citizens for Tax Justice has released House Surcharge Proposal Unlikely to Have Noticeable Impact on Small Businesses:
- Only about one in one-hundred are rich enough to be subject to the surcharge
- The surcharge paid by the rich would be less than they got from the Bush tax cuts
- Only a tiny fraction of small business owners would pay the surcharge
- Even for those few small business owners who would pay the surcharge, the surcharge would have no effect on their hiring decisions
- The health care reform that will be funded by the surcharge will make it cheaper to hire workers
