Roger Alford (Pepperdine) has an interesting take on my quarterly traffic ranking (by visitors and page views) of the Top 35 blogs edited by law professors: he re-ranks the blogs based on their "average visit length." As Roger notes, SiteMeter measures traffic length on a daily basis and does not track visit length over a longer period. Roger's snapshot ranking based on a single day's average visit length neverthless is interesting — only three of the Top 10 blogs as measured by yearly traffic rank in the Top 10 in average visit length. The "stickiest" blog is Tax Prof Jack Bogdanski's non-law blog, Jack Bog's Blog, with an average visit length of 2:56. The Top 10 Law Prof blogs in average visit length, with the their corresponding traffic rankings, are:
1. 2:56 Jack Bog’s Blog (9)
2. 2:50 Sentencing Law & Policy Blog (10)
3. 2:42 Althouse (4)
4. 2:39 Opinio Juris (17)
4. 2:39 Election Law Blog (28)
6. 2:26 Mirror of Justice (26)
7. 2:21 Antitrust & Competition (35)
8. 2:19 Sports Law Blog (24)
9. 2:16 The Faculty Lounge (20)
10. 2:07 Right Coast (16)
