Judge Dismisses Claim by Unsuccessful Iowa Legal Writing Faculty Candidate Alleging Discrimination Due to Her Conservative Views

I previously blogged the lawsuit filed by Teresa R. Wagner, Associate Director of the University of Iowa College of Law Writing Resource Center, against the school and Dean (and Tax Prof) Carolyn Jones, claiming that she was twice rejected for a legal writing faculty position because of her conservative political views. Today's National Law Journal reports:

The University of Iowa College of Law is on a wining streak — at least when it comes to defending against claims of employment discrimination.

A federal judge on Tuesday dismissed a lawsuit brought against Dean Carolyn Jones by a legal writing instructor who claimed she lost out on a tenured faculty position because of her politically conservative views. The same judge dismissed a suit against the law school in December brought by a Michigan attorney who claimed the school illegally passed him over for a faculty job in favor of younger candidates.
