National Law Journal, Christian Law School Planned in Louisiana:
Louisiana may soon have its fifth law school. Louisiana College, which is owned by Louisiana Baptist Convention, has announced plans to open the Judge Paul Pressler School of Law in Shreveport. …
The law school will use a "curriculum that recognizes the moral and religious foundations of the American legal system," according to the college. It will be named for Paul Pressler III, a former Texas Court of Appeals judge who helped lead the conservative takeover of the Southern Baptist Convention during the 1970s. He is a director of Christian radio broadcasting and publishing company Salem Communications Corp.
A number of U.S. law schools take a conservative Christian focus, including Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, Va., founded by Pat Robertson; Liberty University School of Law in Lynchburg, Va., founded by Jerry Falwell, Sr.; and Ave Maria School of Law in Naples, Fla., launched by Domino's Pizza Inc. founder Tom Monaghan.
Louisiana is already home to Loyola University New Orleans School of Law, Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law School, Tulane University Law School and Southern University Law Center.
