New York Law School is seeking to fill the Otto L. Walter Distinguished Faculty Chair:

The chair honors Otto Walter, one of New York Law School’s most renowned alumni, authority on international and tax law, and founder of Walter, Conston, Alexander & Green, the predecessor firm in New York of Alston & Bird.

The Otto Walter chairholder will be a top U.S. or international scholar with a strong publication and/or practice record in International Tax Law, U.S. Tax Law and its global implications, or International Business Law. The holder of the Otto L. Walter Distinguished Faculty Chair will be expected to pursue an active research agenda, teach J.D. and LL.M. students, and be a contributing member of New York Law School’s academic community. The appointment includes a competitive salary and benefits appropriate for a chairholder, a research stipend to reward scholarship in the subject areas of the chair, and research support.

The inaugural holder of the Otto Walter Chair will be expected to take up the position by August 2011, but other start dates will be considered as needed. Applications for the Chair are open now and will be considered on a rolling basis. While our preference is to fill the position through a tenured appointment, we are open to other possibilities, such as a visit or term appointment, or the appointment of a distinguished practitioner.
