We are now 90% of the way through Fall 2023 law school admissions season. The number of law school applicants reported by LSAC is down -3.7% compared to last year at this time:
129 of the 198 law schools are experiencing a decrease in applications. Applications are down -10% or more at 45 law schools:
Applicants are down the most in New England (-9.3%), Northwest (-8.9%), and Far West (-8.4%); and are up in Other (+16.9%):
Applicants' LSAT scores are down -1.0% in the 170-180 band, -6.6% in the 160-169 band, -7.5% in the 150-159 band, and -4.2% in the 120-149 band:
Hawaiian|Other Pacific Islander applicants are down -9.0%; Native American Indian|Alaska Native applicants are down -6.3%; Caucasian|White applicants are down -6.0%; Puerto Rican applicants are down -4.3%; Hispanic|Latino applicants are down -2.0%; Asian applicants are down -1.6%; Black|African American applicants are down -1.4%; and Not Indicated are up +5.9%:
Man applicants are down -5.9%; Woman applicants are down -2.5%; Not Indicated applicants are up +4.8%; and Gender Diverse applicants are up +5.6%:
First Generation College Student applicants are down -4.5%:
