A month after Joshua D. Wright, a former professor at George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School, was accused of sexual misconduct, the university announced policy changes to prohibit any “intimate, sexual, or other type of romantic or amorous encounter or association” between students and faculty, employees or volunteers at the school.
On Thursday, the school announced that GMU President Gregory Washington has initiated a number of actions—some of which were previously announced in August—intended to strengthen the systems already in place to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct, in an effort to create a “safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.”
Last month, several women, most of whom received their J.D. degrees from George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School, came forward accusing Wright of sexual misconduct and alleging the school knew about Wright’s behavior but did nothing about it. …
Wright, who is the founding partner of Lodestar Law & Economics and a former Commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission, filed a $108 million lawsuit against two women who came forward.
The suit, filed in the Circuit Court of Fairfax County, Virginia, is against Elyse Dorsey, who graduated from GMU Law and is now a partner at Kirkland & Ellis, and Angela Landry, who graduated from GMU Law in 2012, and is now an attorney with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Dorsey and Landry commended the university for the policy changes, according to Sanford Heisler Sharp’s Thursday announcement, the firm representing the two women.
