I. Richard Gershon, former Dean at Texas Wesleyan (2000-2003), Charleston (2003-2010), and Mississippi (2010-2015) passed away Monday night. He previously was on the tax faculty at Ohio Northern (1983-1984), Stetson (1984-1998), and Texas Wesleyan (1998-2000), and returned to the Mississippi tax faculty in 2015. Richard Gershon is a faculty member at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) School of Law, where he teaches tax courses, as well as wills, trusts, and estates, and legal profession. He served as dean of the law school from 2010-2015. He has also served as the founding dean of the Charleston School of Law, and as dean of Texas Wesleyan University School of Law.
Gershon is the author of several books and articles on taxation and legal education, and is a co-author contributing annual updates to Attorney-Client Privilege in the United States, and A Student’s Guide to The Internal Revenue Code.
Since 2013, Professor Gershon has been the Co-host of “In Legal Terms,” a weekly radio show for Mississippi Public Broadcasting. Podcasts from the show can be found at In Legal Terms.
