Jim Ash, Lawyers Weigh in on ABA Law School Accreditation Debate, The Florida Bar (October 3, 2025).
Florida lawyers care deeply about the mission of the “Workgroup on the Role of the American Bar Association in Bar Admission Requirements,” according to a flurry of responses the panel generated when it invited public comment.

Last week, a subsequent order extended a September 30 deadline for the panel to submit recommendations, giving its chair, former Supreme Court Justice Ricky Polston, and five judges, lawyers, and legal scholars, until October 31.
The workgroup has much to consider, including more than 20 public comments. They represent a widely diverse range of perspectives, from students attending non-ABA accredited law schools, to a 53-year Bar member and former chair of the Florida Board of Bar Examiners, to Barry Currier, the ABA’s former managing director of legal education and accreditation.
