ASU Law launches Civil Rights, Migration and Workplace Law Initiative

Law schools are paying attention to the current focus on immigration, workplaces, civil rights, and immigration enforcement. Arizona State University Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law has launched the Civil Rights, Migration and Workplace Law Initiative. The initiative, led by Professor David Lopez, focuses on how law shapes access to economic and political opportunity and promotes strategies for meaningful change in Arizona, the Southwest and beyond.

The initiative’s launch event, “The Changing Landscape of Federal and State Gender Workplace Protections,”  will be held on November 12. The event will feature Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center, and ASU Law Dean Stacy Leeds.

Other schools have been promoting similar labor and migration research. The UC Davis Labor and Community Center of the Greater Capital Region focuses on similar issues and has received support from the California legislature. The Center is committed to policy-relevant research, education and public programming that serves the labor movement and social justice struggles throughout the Greater Sacramento region, northern California, and statewide.
