We are now 33% of the way through Fall 2026 law school admissions season. The number of law school applicants reported by LSAC is up 22.2% compared to last year at this time.
183 of the 196 law schools are experiencing an increase in applications. Applications are up +30% or more at 84 law schools.
Applicants are up in every region, and are up the most in Mountain West (+40.4%), Northwest (+28.5%), and Northeast (+25.2%).
Applicants’ LSAT scores are up 21.7% in the 170-180 band, +18.9% in the 160-169 band, +16.8% in the 150-159 band, and +24.8% in the 120-149 band.
Not Indicated are up +29.6%; Black|African American applicants are up +25.3%; Hispanic|Latino applicants are up +22.8%; Middle Eastern|North African +22.5%; Caucasian|White applicants are up +22.3%; American Indian|Alaska Native applicants are up +19.6%; Asian applicants are up +19.4%; Native Hawaiian|Other Pacific Islander applicants are up +18.7%; and Canadian Aboriginal|Indigenous are down -17.6%.
Not Indicated applicants are up +23.8%; Man applicants are up +23.2%; Woman applicants are up +21.9%; and Gender Diverse applicants are up +0.3%.
First Generation College Student applicants are up +23.0%.
