50% Through the Fall 2026 Law School Admissions Season: Applicants Are Up 20% From Last Year (49% From 2024)

We are now 50% of the way through Fall 2026 law school admissions season. The number of law school applicants reported by LSAC is up 19.8% compared to last year at this time.

187 of the 196 law schools are experiencing an increase in applications. Applications are up +30% or more at 90 law schools.

Applicants are up in every region, and are up the most in the Mountain West (+30.9%), Midwest (+22.4%), and Northwest (+22.3%).

Applicants’ LSAT scores are up 20.6% in the 170-180 band, +18.6% in the 160-169 band, +13.1% in the 150-159 band, and +20.6% in the 120-149 band.

Not Indicated are up +26.0%; Black | African American applicants are up +22.9%; Hispanic | Latino applicants are up +20.7%; Middle Eastern | North African +20.7%; Caucasian | White applicants are up +19.1%; Native Hawaiian | Other Pacific Islander applicants are up +19.1%; American Indian | Alaska Native applicants are up +13.3%; and Canadian Aboriginal | Indigenous are down -5.3%.

Woman applicants are up +20.1%; Man applicants are up +19.9%; Not Indicated applicants are up +19.6%; and Gender Diverse applicants are down -0.5%.

First Generation College Student applicants are up +19.4%.
