We are now 67% of the way through Fall 2026 law school admissions season. The number of law school applicants reported by LSAC is up 18.9% compared to last year at this time.
186 of the 196 law schools are experiencing an increase in applications. Applications are up +30% or more at 91 law schools.
Applicants are up in every region except Other, and are up the most in the Mountain West (+24.1%), South Central (+21.2%), and Midwest (+19.0%).
Applicants’ LSAT scores are up +19.2% in the 170-180 band, +17.4% in the 160-169 band, +14.1% in the 150-159 band, and +19.2% in the 120-149 band.
Not Indicated are up +21.8%; Black | African American applicants are up +20.6%; Hispanic | Latino applicants are up +20.1%; Middle Eastern | North African +19.4%; Caucasian | White applicants are up +17.3%; Native Hawaiian | Other Pacific Islander applicants are up +14.1%; American Indian | Alaska Native applicants are up +13.9%; and Canadian Aboriginal | Indigenous are down -9.1%.
Woman applicants are up +18.8%; Not Indicated applicants are up +17.6%; Man applicants are up +17.2%; and Gender Diverse applicants are down -1.3%.
First Generation College Student applicants are up +18.6%.
