Adding to a recent post on law school dean appointments and reappointments, Andy Hessick has been named dean of the UNC Law (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill). From the announcement:
Andy Hessick, who has served as interim dean of UNC School of Law since September 2025, has accepted the role on a permanent basis, effective immediately.
Hessick is the Judge John J. Parker Distinguished Professor of Law and served as associate dean for strategy and planning at the law school under former Dean Martin Brinkley ’92 (JD). He has led the school since Brinkley stepped down to focus on teaching.
“We are delighted to name Andy Hessick as our next dean of the School of Law,” said Magnus Egerstedt, executive vice chancellor and provost. “He brings deep expertise in both the legal profession and legal education, along with a strong understanding of the school and its mission. His thoughtful leadership and clear vision make him exceptionally well positioned to lead its next chapter.”
