Each year, the Legal Writing Institute presents several national awards for contributions to legal writing. Last week, the University of Oregon announced that Prof. Rebekah Hanley (Oregon Law) had received the Legal Writing Institute’s (LWI) 2026 Mary S. Lawrence Innovation Award. This followed an announcement earlier in the year that Tamara Herrera (ASU Law) had been recognized in January with the 2026 Thomas F. Blackwell Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Legal Writing. Several other LWI awards will be announced this summer during the 2026 LWI Biennial Conference, which is scheduled for July 15–18, 2026 in Minneapolis at Minnesota Law School. This will be LWI’s 22nd conference. You can find the full schedule here.
