Michael Simkovic: The War for Talent — Law Professors Who Publish in the three Most Selective Finance Journals

Michael Simkovic‘s new paper  “The War for Talent” may be of interest to readers.

Here is the abstract:

Law professors who publish in the three most selective finance journals are rare, and law schools compete for them. Since 1990, thirty-nine professors at fourteen U.S. law schools have published fifty-seven such articles. Pairing three decades of lateral-move lists with annual faculty counts, the first measurement of the law faculty market as move rates rather than move counts, shows these authors moving at two to three times the rate of comparable faculty, overwhelmingly upward, and toward schools already employing such authors. Publication strength, recruitment, alumni earnings, and resources can reinforce one another, with implications for hiring, strategy, and prospective students
