The Section of Taxation’s Lifetime Achievement Award honors an individual who has had a distinguished career of teaching, service, and scholarship. The recipient should be someone who has made a significant impact on the field of taxation, the legal community, and the academy through mentoring, writing, speaking, activism, and providing opportunities to others.
The Section is now seeking nominations for this prestigious award. Only individuals who are eligible for Section membership may submit a nomination, and only individuals, not institutions, organizations, or law schools, are eligible to receive the award.
More than one person may nominate the same candidate; however, the number of nominations received for a particular candidate does not determine who gets the award. Nominations may be submitted in any form, including by email or memorandum. Regardless of form, nominations should provide sufficient information to demonstrate the nominee’s impact on the field of taxation, the legal community, and the academy through teaching, scholarship, mentoring, writing, speaking, activism, service, and creating opportunities for others.
Members may re-nominate individuals who have been nominated in prior years. Prior awardees are as follows:
- 2023 Pat Cain and Cliff Fleming
- 2024 Beverly Moran and Ellen Aprill
- 2025 Alice Abreu and Karen Brown
The AALS Section on Taxation Executive Committee will select the recipient, and the award will be presented at the 2027 AALS Annual Meeting.
