Legal Education Podcasts

Most of my podcast listening and podcast producing has little to do with law or legal education (I am a long-standing GFOP, and IYKYK). Once in a while, however, I come across a legal education episode that is simply too good not to share.

So: at the podcast “How to Navigate Law School,” produced by PLI and hosted by Anastasia Boyko, have a listen to this recent episode featuring Christopher Corts, at the University of Virginia School of Law. The podcast’s intended audience is law students (actual, prospective, and recent, I think), but faculty members should listen in, too.

The episode title is “The Heart and Soul of Lawyering.” The episode summary is this:

Host Anastasia Boyko welcomes University of Virginia School of Law professor Christopher Corts to discuss navigating law school by focusing on the human purpose of legal practice. Corts shares his path from growing up a minister’s son to an 18-year career in theater, seminary, appellate practice, and teaching legal research and writing, jurisprudence, and well-being courses like The Happy Lawyer and Just Practice. They explore meaning and purpose, psychological safety, emotional granularity, and the need to build community to counter isolation, competition, and a constant means-to-an-end mindset. They also examine AI and technology’s emphasis on speed, efficiency, and accuracy, arguing students must stay embodied, relational, and prepared to “fit in to get in” while leading change.

Here is Anastasia Boyko (formerly Yale Law, formerly Utah Law) on LinkedIn.
