Kudos to David A. Brennen, named to the Ellison Capers Palmer, Sr., Endowed Professorship in Tax Law at Mercer University (prevously blogged here.) From the brochure (attached here):
Professor Brennen is one of the country’s top experts on nonprofit law. He is one of thirty-eight acacemics, practitioners and judges appointed as advisers for the American Law Institute’s project on Principles of the Law of Nonprofit Organizations. He has also written extensively on state and federal laws concerning tax exemption in law reviews published by such notable institutions as University of California at Davis, Brigham Young University, St. John’s University and University of Florida. Professor Brennen’s current research is focused on new ways of understanding the federal income tax exemption for charities. In 2003, Professor Brennen co-authored one of the first law school casebooks devoted exclusively to the study of the federal tax laws that affect nonprofit organizations.
