TaxProf Blog 2.0

When I announced on September 23 that I would be ending TaxProf Blog when its platform closed, I explained that the time had come for me to step away after 21 years rather than start anew on a different platform. I was blown away by the more than 300 deans, professors, and lawyers who reached out to say how much they had appreciated the community TaxProf Blog had fostered in both tax and legal education and how much they would miss the information the blog provided on a daily basis. Several individuals offered to help keep TaxProf Blog going, and several tax and legal education institutions offered to host TaxProf Blog on their sites.

I am delighted that exactly one month later, TaxProf Blog is reborn with new editors on the Association of American Law Schools site. I am grateful to AALS Executive Director & CEO Kellye Testy (and her leadership team) for recognizing the value of TaxProf to the tax and legal education community and to AALS Associate Director of Digital Strategies Amanda Brite (and the tech team) for their incredible work in retrieving and reformatting over 50,000 blog posts. I am thrilled that the TaxProf community will live on for many years at the ideal gathering place on the web for scholars, practitioners, students, and other friends.

I appreciate the Tax Editors and Legal Education Editors who have agreed to carry the TaxProf Blog torch:

Tax:

  • Andrew Appleby, Associate Professor of Law, University of Tennessee Winston College of Law
  • Conor Clarke, Associate Professor of Law, Washington University School of Law
  • Jon Endean, Assistant Professor of Law, Brooklyn Law School
  • Deanna Newton, Associate Professor of Law, Pepperdine Caruso School of Law
  • Shu-Yi Oei, David T. Zhang Distinguished Professor of Law, Duke Law School
  • Sloan Speck, Associate Professor of Law, University of Colorado Law School

Legal Education:

  • Alena Allen, Professor of Law, Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center
  • Michael Madison, Professor of Law, University of Pittsburgh School of Law
  • Austen Parrish, AALS President and Dean, University of California Irvine School of Law
  • Michael Hunter Schwartz, Professor of Law, University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law

These editors will continue TaxProf Blog’s mission to deliver timely, insightful coverage of tax law and legal education to inform, connect, and inspire scholars, practitioners, and students.

We anticipate adding additional editors over time. I am stepping away from daily posting, but will chime in from time to time and will continue posting on tax, legal education, and faith on Sundays.
