Joshua Blank (UC Irvine) and Leigh Osofsky (UNC) have been selected by the Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS) to lead a comprehensive study of how federal agencies use “agency legal explainers” — such as FAQs, practice guides, and social media content — to improve public understanding of the laws they administer. The project will involve interviews with agency officials to identify best practices, assess tensions between accessibility and accuracy, and develop policy recommendations in a report to be presented to ACUS in 2027. More information on the study is available on the Irvine, UNC, and ACUS websites.
