In a new issue of INTERTAX, Omri Marian (UC Irvine) revisits his important article, Are Cryptocurrencies Super Tax Havens?, 112 Mich. L. Rev. First Impressions 38 (2013), with a surprising conclusion: the initial substantive and enforcement challenges that cryptocurrencies posed have proven largely surmountable with familiar legal technologies. Earlier this month, the Government Lawyers Oversight Watchdog (GLOW) launched a new, volunteer-managed database that provides “a freely accessible public record of how government lawyers have conducted themselves while representing, or supporting, U.S. Executive Branch legal positions” (press release).
