Following up on Thursday’s post about the Tax Court’s recent denial of claimed education expense deductions for M.B.A. expenses: Sunday’s Washington Post included A Little Learning Is a Dangerous Thing to Deduct, an article critical of the Tax Court’s approach in these cases. According to the Post article, the tax officials are really cracking down…and unjustly it seems to me. Here is a quote from the article:
referring to an investment banking career:
‘The next job up the ladder, that of “associate,” required an MBA, the court noted.’
Aren’t there plenty of investment bankers at the associate level or higher without an MBA? Am I overlooking something wrt this issue?
