Bruce Bartlett argues here that John Kerry may lose the election because he has not challenged President Bush on the issue of tax reform. Here is the opening:
If John Kerry ends up losing this election, it may not be so much because of what he did as what he didn’t do. By overemphasizing his Vietnam record, he chose to ignore issues on which George W. Bush potentially is vulnerable. Among these is tax reform.

One response to “Bartlett: Kerry May Lose Election By Not Taking Up Tax Reform Issue”
A serious focus on tax reform would leave little time for more pressing issues. I would challenge tax profs and other tax experts to come up with an outline of true tax reform that would meet the fiscal needs of the country, be fair and at the same time promote economic expansion. Congress has not had much success over the years with tax reform other than using the word reform in tax bills.
