Finally, a tax angle on the brouhaha over Dan Rather’s tepid mea culpa over the fabricated Bush national guard documents: The Armchair Critic fears that the IRS will be flooded with taxpayers trying to take advantage of the “Rather ‘Fake, But Accurate’ Defense.” The Roth & Company CPA site analogizes this to the old “Cohan Rule” which encouraged taxpayers to inflate business deductions despite a lack of substantiation in the hope that the IRS or a court would grant them a portion of the claimed expenses.

One response to “Tax Implications of CBS/Dan Rather Flap”
So Rather made a mistake. Or more likely he stood up for somebody in his office who made a mistake. Bush has made them one after another and nobody is after him.
I am sure you are happy now that there will be one less source of that troublesome “reality” reporting. You can just believe whatever you want (of course you do have to stay in touch with Hannity, Rush, etc for several hours per day or the brainwashing might wear too thin). forget about those people who are being tortured by us, now they can all just “disappear”; who cares that most of them were innocent to begin with, right?
Anyway, congratulations, another big one.
