According to press reports (see here and here), Britney Spears has not filed a marriage license with Los Angeles County since her September 18 wedding to Kevin Federline. The reason? Because they moved up the wedding from October 16, their lawyers have not finished ironing out the prenuptial agreement. The New York Daily News reports that Spears originally offered Federline $36,000 per year in the event of divorce, but has since upped the ante to $300,000 per year. Spears is quoted saying “I know we’re not completely legal until we file the license, which we’ll do next week. But in a real sense, a spiritual sense, we’re married.” Of course, they also are not married in a tax sense, and any transfers from Spears to Federline in the meantime will not be sheltered by § 1041. Britney is Married – Suprise Wedding
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline pulled a sly one on everyone by saying “I Do” at what was supposed to be an engagement party and not even Brit’s own mother, Lynne, was in on the stunning surprise.
It all happened Saturday night, Sept. 18, 7:30 p.m, at the relatively modest Studio City, Ca. home owned by the tailor, who had custom-made Beverly Hills Pimps and Ho’s jumpsuits for the groom and all the men in the wedding.
Only 20 immediate family members – including Britney’s shocked mom and sister Jamie Lynn. Britney wore a strapless white dress by designer Monique L’Huillier, with long veil and tiara, and she carried a bouquet of pink and white roses. Kevin suited up in black tux. Five bridesmaids and a maid of honor all wore burgundy and carried red roses.
Guests dined on chicken fingers, crab cakes, ribs, Waldorf salad, and the newlyweds danced to Journey’s City by the Bay.
Britney gave Kevin a platinum ring with diamonds, and she got a platinum band.
The actual ceremony lasted but five minutes. “He was crying, she was crying,” a source says. “It was beautiful.”
