As if Sammy Sosa did not have enough troubles — his record-setting home run spree of 1998-2002 (he averaged 58 home runs annually over the 5-year period) is now tarnished by steroid suspicions as his performance has fallen precipitously since then (his home run total has fallen this year from 35 to 14). The Boca Raton law firm of Tescher, Gutter, Chaves, Josepher, Rubin, Ruffin and Forman sued Sosa earlier this month for failing to pay $22,000 in legal fees arising out of tax work the firm did for Sosa and his charitable foundation in two Tax Court cases. The suit alleged that Sosa stopped paying the legal fees once the cases were settled in December. The parties settled last week, but terms were not disclosed.
