District Court Orders IRS to Turn Over Data to TRAC

Tracirs_2The Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) of Syracuse University announced yesterday that a federal district court has ordered the IRS to turn over extensive statistical information to Susan Long, the co-director of TRAC:

In the ruling, Judge Marsha Pechman of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington upheld a permanent court order the same court had provided Long in 1976. That required the agency to provide Professor Long with statistical data about the audit and examination process. Judge Pechman, in her Monday ruling, ordered the production of the requested reports within 14 days. TRAC has long used the IRS data to provide the public well-documented reports about the IRS.
