It would be interesting to design the mechanism to determine which surgeries are purely cosmetic and which have some medical benefit and are therefore “reconstructive.”

Doesn’t the federal government already have to do this with Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, federal employees’, soldiers’ and veterans’ health care? I wish people would stop acting as though the government isn’t already far sunk into the health care business. Reagan tried the “if we let government do this it will be the death of freedom” shtick on Medicare decades ago, and it didn’t work then even when it was the AMA funding him.
How many women will die because they have been forced to go to dangerous back alley clinics? Keep Botox safe, rare and legal!
Can they tax abortions too?

Currently there is one state, New Jersey, that has already passed a “Botax” and while it has not been proved to be a cash cow it has also not been prohibitive of people getting botox in New Jersey as a tank of gas to New York would cost more than the tax. This is a sound proposal and should be carefully considered.
