The credit is better than the deduction? Smoke and mirrors. It is still either our money we are paying ourselves or imaginary money which we will pay for later. So, we either paid it already or will pay it… to ourselves. Sounds like somebody wants to use our own money to ingratiate us to them (by paying us with our own money). Okay, okay, I know the real answer, this is all money coming from people who make over $250 bajillion a year, right?
Interesting, it appears that MSNBC switched the original video with something that is meant to warm your heart.
That making work pay tax credit totally screwed up my exemptions this year and made me actually had to pay money for the first time in about 14 years. Last time I had to pay was because I cashed out some stocks and assumed I’d be paying at that point. This time it came totally out of left field and at a time when I can’t afford it. Basically I’m having to pay back all the money that was “given” to me through reduced withholdings.
Then, they make this glorious puff piece like there are all these wondrous credits to be had. If you are not a student or planning on buying a home then there really isn’t that much in it for most people.
This guy is one heartbeat and pack of smokes away from the presidency.
