Following up on my previous posts (links below): Inside Higher Ed, LSU Law Professor to Return to Class After Being Suspended for Political Speech:
Ken Levy, a Louisiana State University law professor who was put on leave last year after a student complained about his political commentary, will return to the classroom this spring, WBRZ reported.
The news follows a winding legal saga between Levy and LSU, in which lower courts twice ruled that Levy should return to the classroom, only for appellate courts to overturn the decisions. Levy said in a July Facebook post, published by the LSU Reveille, that university officials still had not told him what “rules, regulations or policies” he violated, and that the university had not conducted any hearing. An LSU spokesperson did not respond to a question about whether that is accurate.
Levy was removed from the classroom in January 2025 after a student complained about comments he made during a criminal procedure class, including “fuck the governor” in reference to Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landy. Levy also disparaged President Donald Trump—“I couldn’t believe that fucker won,” he told students—and said students who supported Trump need his political commentary.
