Tax Lawyer Owen Fiore Pleads Guilty to Income Tax Evasion

Well-known California tax lawyer Owen Fiore pled guilty on Tuesday to income tax evasion charges. Mr. Fiore is the author of over a dozen tax articles and the lead counsel in several famous tax cases, including Estate of Cristofani v. Commissioner, 97 T.C. 24 (1991), and Estate of Fontana v. Commissioner, 118 T.C. No. 16 (2002). According to the plea agreement and DOJ press release, Mr. Fiore admitted to understating his 1999 taxable income by $520,000 and his income tax by $214,000.
