90% Through the Fall 2026 Law School Admissions Season: Applicants Are Up 10% From Last Year (32% From 2024)

We are now 90% of the way through Fall 2026 law school admissions season. The number of law school applicants reported by LSAC is up 10.3% compared to last year at this time.

170 of the 197 law schools are experiencing an increase in applications. Applications are up +20% or more at 85 law schools.

Applicants are up in every region except Other (-2.4%), and are up the most in the Mountain West (+13.7%), Great Lakes (+13.2%), and South Central (+11.2%).

Applicants’ LSAT scores are up +15.7% in the 170-180 band, +12.2% in the 160-169 band, +5.5% in the 150-159 band, and +5.8% in the 120-149 band.

Not Indicated are up +12.5%; Black | African American applicants are up +12.6%; Hispanic | Latino applicants are up +10.6%; Caucasian | White applicants are up +10.0%; Middle Eastern | North African +9.7%; Native Hawaiian | Other Pacific Islander applicants are up +7.0%; American Indian | Alaska Native applicants are up +1.4%; and Canadian Aboriginal | Indigenous are down -22.0%.

Woman applicants are up +11.4%; Man applicants are up +9.2%; Not Indicated applicants are up +7.6%; and Gender Diverse applicants are down -2.5%.

First Generation College Student applicants are up +8.8%.
